नवरात्र‍ि के दौरान ये 5 काम नहीं करने चाहिए –
पुरुषों को नवरात्रि के दौरान दाढ़ी और बाल काटने की मनाही होती है। ये
शास्त्रों में भी वर्जित माने गए हैं। दाढ़ी बनाना और बाल कटवाना भी
उन्हीं कर्मों में शामिल है। नवरात्रि के दिनों में नाखून भी न काटें।

नवरात्र‍ि के दौरान सात्‍व‍िक खाना खाएं। नॉन-वेज से तो परहेज करें ही,
साथ ही प्‍याज, लहसुन आद‍ि के सेवन से भी दूर रहें।
नवरात्र के दिनों में आपको नशा नहीं करना चाहिए क्योंकि ऐसे व्यक्तियों
पर देवी-देवताओं की कृपा प्राप्त नहीं होती है। नवरात्र में हर उस बुरी
चीज से दूरी बनाए रखें जो आपको गलत राह पर ले जाए।
नवरात्रि के दिनों सुबह देर तक ना सोएं। सूर्योदय से पहले ही बिस्तर छोड़
दें और भोर समय में ही माता की पूजा करें।
नवरात्र के दिनों में गुरुओं और बड़ों का अपमान ना करें। महिलाओं को देवी
का स्वरूप समझा जाता है। ऐसे में नवरात्र‍ि में इनका अपमान बिल्कुल भी ना
करें।

कन्‍या पूजन के बिना नवरात्रि पूजा के फल की प्राप्‍ति नहीं होती है।

कन्या को देवी मानके उनके चरणों का पूजन करने से माता शक्ति का आशीर्वाद
प्राप्त होता है।

कंजक में 9 कन्‍याओं को जरूर बैठाएं।
सर्वप्रथम कन्याओं का चरण फूल की थाली में जल में डालकर उसको धोएं।
मान्‍यता है कि ऐसा करने से पापों का शमन होता है।
फिर उनको तिलक लगाकर पंक्तिबद्ध बैठाएं। हाथ में रक्षासूत्र बांधें और
उनके चरणों में पुष्प अर्पित करें।
इसके पश्चात नई थाली (इसलिए कंजक में अक्‍सर थाली या टिफ‍िन द‍िया जाता
है) में कन्‍याओं को पूड़ी, हलवा, चना इत्यादि भोजन श्रद्धा पूर्वक
परोसें। फिर मिष्ठान और प्रसाद देकर कुछ द्रव्य और वस्त्र का दान करें।
जब कन्‍याएं भोजन कर लें तो उन्‍हें शक्तिस्वरूपा देवी मानकर पुनः उनकी
आरती करें और उनके चरण स्पर्श कर आशीर्वाद लें।
