1. Lord Hanuman is known as an obstacle remover, as he is the only deity who has control over the planet Saturn (Shani).

2. Hanuman approached the Sun God and learnt many scriptures . Legend

says that it only took 60 hours to finish the entire scriptures for Hanuman Ji. The Sun god urged him to train his son Sugriva in the scriptures.

3. Hanuman met Rama (the incarnation of Vishnu and one of the most important figures in Indian history) during his 14 year exile. Upon laying his eyes upon him, Hanuman immediately prostrated himself in front of him. From this moment forward, he followed Rama everywhere.

4. His greatest feat is when he moved an entire mountain to heal Rama’s brother. Lakshmana had been seriously wounded in the battle against the evil Ravana, and in order to save his life, a certain herb was needed from a mountaintop. However, when he got to the mountain he realized that he couldn’t distinguish between any of the plants. So instead of guessing, he grew to a much larger form and picked up the entire mountain and brought it back to Rama.

5. Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated on the 15th day of Shukla Paksha, during the month of Chaitra.

6. Lord Hanuman is a bachelor and has never married. He is only devoted to Lord Rama.

7. Lord Rama and Lakshmana were once abducted by the Asura Ahiravana and kept captive in Pataal Loka. Now Hanuman’s son Makrdwaja was found by Ahiravana as a child, and brought him up to be a soldier. Hanuman was confronted by Makardwaja when he went to Pataal Loka to rescue Lord Rama and Lakshmana. They fought each other and eventually Hanuman was able to rescue Rama and Lakshmana by defeating Ahiravana. Makardwaja was later made the king of Pataal Loka as per Lord Rama’s wish.

8. Lord Hanuman was also the 11th and last Rudra avatar of Lord Shiva. His Panchmukhi form is widely revered as his ultimate and most powerful manifestation.

Women are allowed to do Hanuman Chalisa. There is no restrictions and this is not written anywhere. Nobody can interrupt Hanuman’s Brahmcharya.

On Hanuman Jayanti, devotees put sindur on their forehead and visit Hanuman temples. They feed bananas to monkeys and men fast whole day. Some people say that Hanuman Chalisa should not be done in the morning. Refferring a Chopai in Sunderkand, “praat lai jo naam hamara, tehi din taahi na mile Aahara.” {Whoever chant Hanuman name in the morning he willn’t get any foods tha day.}Hanuman said these lines to Vibhishan, when he introduced himself. Hanuman has no ego and his only aim to seve Ram and everymankind. Hanuman is Rudravtar and who remembers him anytime his day is verey pleasing – Satyam Shivan sundaram.

Hanuman with his monkey army was at the guard of cave entrance, where Vaishno Devi was meditating for nine months, before she came out of cave. 


There is a stream called Ban Ganga ( Ban literally means an arrow ), where Devi used her arrow to take out a stream of water from the hill, to quench the thirst of Hanuman when he became thirsty. Hanuman also fought with Bhairavnath before Vaishno Devi asked him to leave Bhairavnath to her.

Hanuman rejected a pearl necklace gifted by to him by Sita saying “I don’t accept anything that does not contain Ram.” To prove his point he ripped his chest to show the presence of Ram in his heart. After completing the fourteen year exile, when Rama returned to Ayodhya he was crowned as the king of the state. Hanuman as usual continued to remain at his beck and call thus leaving others with nothing to do. Sita decided to distribute all the work between the members of royal family and relieve Hanuman of all his duties.


But Hanuman countered her proposal citing that one very important task is yet unassigned. When asked, he said who would click fingers when Ram yawns? As per popular belief not clicking ones fingers while yawning shortens their lifespan. Sita was amused by Hanuman’s diligence and assigned him the responsibility. Rama out of respect and love for his ardent devotee starts a yawning spree and Hanuman without fail clicked his fingers every time. A confused Sita approaches sage Vashistha who ended this tirade.

Upon his Guru VIshwamitra’s instruction Rama set about killing Yayati. But Yayati went to Hanuman to seek refuge. As it was the dharma to grant amnesty to all refuge seekers, Hanuman vowed to protect Yayati even though it meant he would have to fight with Ram.


In the battle field, Hanuman refused to fight with weapons and instead started chanting Ram’s name. All the arrows shot by ram went in vain and Vishwamitra who was dumb-founded by Hanuman’s devotion relieved Ram of his dilemma.

When Laxman was injured in the war, and only the Sanjeevani herb could save his life, Rama instructed Hanuman to obtain the plant for him. Hanuman could not identify the herb and thus uprooted the entire mountain to bring with him. While he was crossing over Ayodhya, Bharat, who was the de-facto ruler of the kingdom then, mistook Hanuman for some demon who was trying to destroy Ayodhya and shot an arrow. 


As the arrow had the name of Rama inscribed in it, Hanuman did not obstruct it. The arrow hit Hanuman’s leg who then stopped to explain the situation to Bharat. Upon understanding his folly, Bharat was filled with grief and offered to help Hanuman by firing an arrow which the monkey god could ride to reach his destination. Despite being injured, Hanuman refused to take Bharat’s help and continued on his journey.

Hanuman was sent to find the Goddess, Sita. He went to Lanka and fulfilled her function. But soon he was caught by the people of Ravana. He never become afraid of. Because Hanuman got various boon from the God and he was immortal. So there were nothing to fear about. There were many discussions about what they had to do to Hanuman. Ravana asked his servants to kill Hanuman.

After a lot of suggestions, they decided to burn her tail as it is the significant organ for a monkey. They tied him and made a cloth round her tail end. Then they dip it into oil. After performing all this, they gave fire to it. What happened next was never anticipated by any of them. He ran, flew and walk through every corners of Lanka, causing the Kingdom of Lanka to catch fire. While doing this bravery, Hanuman find Shanideva in an underground room of Ravana’s palace. He freed the God. Then, Shani Deva also helped Hanuman to ruin everything easily.Shani Deva was very thankful to Hanuman for what he did. He gave a boon to Hanuman that whoever worships Hanuman will not get any bad effects of Shani.

Chitrakoot is believed to be the resting place of Hanuman ,who is considered as one of the few dieties who were never troubled by Shani Deva. The scriptures also states that he rescued Shani Deva from Raavana during the Ramayana.
